Prom: It's all about the dress

My D’s prom included dinner, but I was still not willing to pay $400 for a 5 hour, high school event - especially since that $400 didn’t include shoes, jewelry, hair, nails, make-up, etc. D found her dress in the city, but we searched online and bought it for 50% less. She and her friends have worn each other’s dresses several times too. By the time they were seniors, they were very responsible about the money. In addition, the high schools around here have a used dress sale every winter. Families can sell old dresses and get 60% of the profit (rest goes to charity), and others can buy a dress only worn for a few hours. Other high schools do the same thing, so the girls attend the sales at the those schools too.
