Quick q about prom:

When you (girl) go to get your hair styled at a salon, do you normally go in there with wet hair, or do the stylists re-wash your hair and then style?

Thanks

It depends on what the stylist is going to do with the hair.

For an updo, the people that have done my daugthers hair want it dry, clean, but not washed that day. If you use a flat iron, you can’t have used it after you washed it.

So for a Sat appt, wash and dry the hair on friday. Do not curl or flat iron it and don’t put any product in it.

If you are going in for just a blow out. They will wash the hair for you.

Fewer girls did updos in our area this year - more were wearing hair down or half up (either straight or curled) . But yes, we got the same instructions as mercedesfilles had she opted for the updo.

don’t go in with wet hair, and don’t wash your hair before going, even. having extra oils in your hair from the day before will actually help your updo hold its shape better.

It is such a fun atmosphere in the salon watching all the girls get transformed into Cinderella.

Agree with washing the day prior but styling products would be OK.

Thank you for the responses. I’m not going to get an updo. So the norm for a blowout is that the stylist will wash it?

Here you go with clean, dry hair. They will wet it if you are just getting a blowout.

You would typically go in and the stylist would wash it for you there.
