Can anyone tell me the acceptance rate for PROMYS? Someone said it was 40%, but someone else said that it was about 10%. I also heard that a lot of people who can solve all 10/10 problems are denied.

I'm going to be able to solve 8-10 problems with good explanations, and my essays are pretty good and show my passion for mathematics/game theory/group theory. I plan to send in my LaTeXed application on March 29, and I am about to ask my old math teacher (who LOVES me) for a recommendation.

Am I on the right track? Do I have a chance?

Our HS is close to PROMYS and many students apply. From here it seems that the admissions decisions are somewhat random and heavily effected by how soon you apply. I’d guess that you have a good shot. If you think it will help you get your application in earlier, you may want to skip the LaTeX and send handwritten proofs / solutions.

hey does anyone when/how they will notify you the decision?

email to students and cc to parents.

@spottedfawn, and anyone else really, did you get your decision back? How many did you answer and which ones, if any did you leave unanswered?

This is a Ross alumnus still in high school speaking, so take stuff below with a grain of salt.

I solved 4-5/8 or something bad like that on the Ross app, no Latex + bad-handwriting solutions. Also the only thing I had in terms of achievements was AIME. Rec was meh. Got in. Since Ross ~ Promys, you’re most likely going to get in.

By the way acceptance at Ross that year was ~40%. I think it’s because many potential applicants were turned off by the problems…so your chances are pretty good haha.

Today got rejected.
Solved 8.5 problems( leave No.9 and No.10b).

to emmakxg: I answered you message, but I am not sure it has been send out or not because I am a new member, not enough posts to send out message.
