Proof of mom being unemployed?

My dad works but my mom stays home. What kind of proof of her unemployment will colleges ask for? My parents said something about how their tax forms last year said that the two of them together made a total of $XX000, with $XX000 being the amount my dad made. Is that enough proof or are some other documents needed? I recognize that different schools will require different things, but any insight is appreciated!

You don’t need any special documentation to prove that your mom doesn’t have a job outside the home. The financial paperwork that your parents submit together will show all of their income and assets.

Your parents file a joint tax return that shows all income even if only one parent earns the income. That’s all that’s needed by schools.

Why do you think you need to prove your mom is unemployed?

You won’t need to prove that your mom stays at home as others have said. Being recently unemployed is different than staying at home and a college might want a copy of an unemployment letter or something for a financial aid appeal, but not choosing to work doesn’t require anything since, as others said, it will be reflected on the FAFSA and/or Profile.
