<p>Can anyone explain to me what these are?</p>

<p>I asked a professor for a letter of rec for a study abroad program and what documents they might need and they responded that they would write me a recommendation and asked for a proposal/letter of application.</p>

<p>Is it basically a statement of purpose?</p>

<p>Everything that I googled came up with job applications. Very confused, but don’t want to sound like a total idiot responding to the professor asking what they mean.</p>

<p>I think it’s basically, “How would study abroad further your educational experience?” So, yes, a personal statement of sorts.</p>
