Proposed Education cuts in Florida

Please explain the ramifications if Rick Scott’s budget proposal passes. Talk to me like I’m a fifth-grader. What is his true rationale in doing this, and what is likely to happen if his budget passes?

Thanks from a parent of Florida public-school kids.

All I have to say is that I am so grateful that my youngest is a senior this year. So much for Scott’s campaign promise to not touch education bugets!

I don’t know a thing about Florida’s school issues. In CT the problem is unfunded mandates.

This is a tragic story happening all over the country. Out of curiosity, is he proposing increased funding for corrections?

A less educated populace is a boost to his political party. It’s quite simple.

Thanks for the replies. I’m not sure about corrections. That is something I will investigate.

Yes, it seems that he is with the Right On Crime movement. [Right on Crime ?](http://www.rightoncrime.com/) He is proposing increased funding for reducing recidivism. Which sounds good in theory but I’ll have to research further.
