Hello, I am just wondering what you all think the pros and cons are of transferring. I am currently attending a top ten school and am getting good grades, but I am not sure that it is the best place for me. I would transfer to a much lower ranked school closer to home. I am really struggling with the decision, so if you could all come up with some pros and cons (or tips), I would really appreciate it.

Transferring schools is increasingly common. Finding a school you’re a good fit with can be very beneficial for some students. However, some students make changes thinking that the issue is only with their school when it may be schools in general. It would depend on what your concerns were.
But rankings mean very little. You shouldn’t feel like you’re missing out by transferring to a school that may not be ranked as highly.
If you transfer to a different school, one of the pros would be having a clean reputation with that school. But a con may be losing friends / connections established at the prior school.
One of the first things you need to do it see what credits will transfer if you switch schools. You don’t want to have all the work you have done go to waste because they don’t accept the credits you have already earned.
