Pros/cons of transferring

I am currently a freshmen considering transferring to a different school. I am also planning on rushing in January if that is worth noting. For any transfer students, parents of transfers, or those who know transfers, what might be considered the positives and negatives of changing schools?

What kind of school you’re attending now? What kind of school that you want to transfer to?

You need to provide more information. No one can really answer such a vague question.

I currently attend a private, selective, mid-sized school in the South. While I like it, I feel like I can get more academically for what I am paying for

PROS:
-as a current college student, you have a better idea of what your likes and dislikes are for colleges, and can make a more informed decision for your new college
-you can apply to fewer schools, but have better reasons for applying to them than your senior year
-you’re more mature, and can buckle down and get to work once you arrive on your new campus
-you may not feel at home in your current school, so you’ll be able to find a school that better fits your needs
CONS:
-Scholarship!- you won’t receive as much in scholarship from your new school as a transfer student (if this is a problem, take this into consideration)
-Social aspects- it may be hard to break into the social groups that formed during freshman year
-Credits!- you may lose important credits you need to graduate, so it may cost more money to take classes needed to graduate at your new school

Consider every why you are transferring first. For you not to waste any time on applying it is best if you could justify your reasons for transferring.
