"Protocal" Question

My son is registered to participate at a football camp at a school later this month. Today we received a flyer in the mail advertising another camp at a school he’s also interested in with a personalized handwritten note attached from one of the head coaches saying “[My son’s name]…We would really like to see you at the camp. Please forward your scores, transcripts, tape yada yada…and call me when you get this”. Problem is, the camps are on the same day. So, what should we do? Do we call and tell Coach 2 that he’s interested but already committed to another camp? Or be more vague and just say he’s interested but not available to make that trip that weekend (It’s about a 6-7 hour drive each way) Not sure how open you’re supposed to be about what other schools you are looking at throughout this process. Thanks for any help!

…

Coaches know that kids are looking at more than 1 school. Go ahead and send him the scores, transcripts and tape - your son should tell the coach he’s very interested but has a prior commitment that day.
I wouldn’t volunteer that he’s going to another camp unless the coach asks.
