Yeah. I got diagnosed with dysthymic depression and I was given Prozac. I’ve been taking it for a while and it works wonders. For instance, when I’m stressed and want to sit and cry, I can’t, because for some reason I feel too “rational”. Nonetheless, I do feel better. Has Prozac done anything for you?

I read Prozac Nation. It kind of sucked.

oooookkkkkk…

Check out healthboards.com

They have a great anxiety and depression section is very smart individuals.

My recommendation is that even though the medication may work wonders, someday it may not anymore. So it is worth the time to invest in you, to find out what causes the depression. I am a personal believer that the body does not need medications to recover from mental and even many physical conditions. You may already know that depression and anxiety are thought to be caused by an imbalance, deficiency, or overefficiey of serotonin and neropinephrine. There are also other theories of what could be the cause.

I think many people become very dependent on SSRI’s, which is a very bad thing, once you know that such a drug can help you, it then becomes your job to find what will give your body the same serotonin reuptake stimulation.

A way to do this not only on your own but as well as to the internet forums and support groups is to actual see a psychologist, and not a psychiatrists because all they want you to take is benzodiazepines which are a drug I highly recommend staying away from. No tranquilizers, youre to young for that.

I also have a problem with severe anxiety and if you want to talk privately about meds and stuff I am more than available to help.

think you could have made that post a little longer?
