Psat 2012 saturday

the dad was a combinative refiner or something. he’s not esoteric at all

Hey pulkit

Last year, your writing score dropped from 80->75 if you missed one question…http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/understanding-psat-nmsqt-scores.pdf</a>

What do you think will be the “curve” this year?

hey chris .

@harvardjunke123: 100% confidence in creative recombiner or w/e it was.

anyone know the two-hat question? The answer choices? I remember the term “two-hat”, can’t remember much else about it. So far I have mixed emotions about how I did.

did anyone else miss that it said ‘integer’ for the question with 3200(0.8)^n?

@yuki. it was 4

@yukihime Dammit, I think I missed that. I put a decimal after finding the log…sigh

andrew8765 the two hat question answer was the biologist trying to save chimpanzees.
Does anybody remember all of the no errors in the writing? I know two of them were a sentence talking about mozart and another where to tear down was a parallel so you could leave it as it was. What other sentences were no error?

was hubris one of the answers…?

yes pulkit

@tips yes.

yuki that was n=4

im looking at
CR -2
MATH -2 skip 1 grid in
writing - nothing so far
what will be my predicted score?

k chris .

@justin i believe the swimming coach one was no error because sarah and me or something was correct

Can someone comprehensively explain why the two hat question was biologist?

i think the two hats were referring to the two different roles of the scientist as in
one, the scientist that gets involved in politics and society
and two, the one just doing research.
so an ecologist who is advocating whatever he was
is involved socially because hes promoting this
and as a scientist because hes an ecologist

because it was showing how scientists were wearing the hat of informing citizens as well as scientist->the biologist was informing others and being a scientist

The two-hat refers to a certain specialist doing something other than their typical career. The biologist was advocating environmental change globally (a legislator’s or environmentalist’s job), which is not her usual research
