I’m just wondering if there is any advantage to taking the PSAT prior to the ACT? Also, are the ACT and SAT tests necessary if a student is planning to apply in state??

There is a “pre-test” for the ACT. It is the PLAN.

It all depends on the school. If you live in Oregon and there’s a tiny college that accepts anybody, then… well, you don’t need it. If you live in Massachusetts and you’re applying to Harvard, then yeah…

Also, the SAT and the ACT are similar to some degree, so taking the PSAT would help. The PLAN is the PSAT for the ACT, but it’s “dumbed” down
