My brother, a freshman, received a score of 1490 in Texas. I was a junior last year and received a score of 237. Proud of my little brooooooooooooooooooo
@aron, I’m wondering if it goes down overall, but up for a few states and down a lot for others. I guess it all depends on the distribution of those 1% scorers. Can’t be all that different year to year, but the test is completely different from previous years (in other words, it’s not just a scaling issue).
This whole thing is totally beyond my pay grade LOL. I guess we’ll be able to analyze the final concordance tables when they finally come out and that will probably cause another 2100+ posts.
209 and 1390 in ND good enough for NMSF? Last year was the cut off was 204, but the concordance chart seems to be saying 1390 equals a 204 which would mean that it would raise for that score…
@atr123 if the most current cut-off for FL was 211 then you are on the cusp but hopefully ok. For some reason I was thinking it was more like 214 and that, if it were me, would be a nail-biter all the way to Sept
You have to be at least commended so congratulations! Hope you get NMSF!
Got a 1440 (around 215?). Probably won’t make the cut in California.
He didn’t/doesn’t practice. Fortunate that he has always done well on standardized tests.
D’s scores still aren’t up! Is there anyone else who also can’t see them yet?
yeah definitely above my pay grade. will have to charge 1000s of PhD statistician hrs.
Does anyone know what National Hispanic cut offs could be?
@suzy100 - the 215 SI was from the score report itself online. Was able to find and access the full report on the website.
Got a 1440 with an SI of 212.
I think I’ll make the cut off since I’m from Nebraska, considering how last year’s SF cutoff for the 2014 PSAT was 209.
Any thoughts? Also, if it is true that PSATs aren’t calculated in finalists, there might be a shot I can ride my SAT score.
Great, now the CB websites are temporarily unavailable! Could that mean they are uploading the scores?
@6stars I got a 1390 and SI of 209 from ND. I was looking at the concordance table and it looked like scores from the states with lower cut offs might go up. Last year for ND the cut off was 204, and the table said a 1390 would be a 204 last year I think. Since you are 6 points above you will probably be fine though. Good luck!
@TheGFG it probably means that 4.5 million users are now accessing (and re-accessing their scores) and the whole site has crashed.
@MS2015 @liveonlife @aron @beaglemom @Mamelot Everyone was saying the cutoffs were supposed to drop, and I think they still might, but the concordance tables have me a little worried. They are showing that a score of 211 this year is equal to a score of 206 or 207 last year, although those numbers may vary depending on the variation of math, reading and writing.
Historically a score that would put one in the 97.5th percentile nationally was enough for NMSF in Mississippi, so there would often be only a single score that would be commended (and what a sad honor that was!). And before that there would be no commended, because everyone in the 97th percentile or above would get it. Scores have been rising over the past 10 years, in large part because school districts like Madison Central and DeSoto have been having having year-long prep classes as part of the curriculum.
At any rate, I think the best way to determine whether or not you have made NMSF is to guesstimate your overall national percentile on the selection score. My son’s score puts him 99th in reading and writing and 97th in math, and my guess is this will put him in the 99th percentile overall. So I still feel pretty good, but I will be studying future charts carefully. The number of NMSF from Mississippi shrinks and swells pretty dramatically, because they find if they reduce the cutoff by a point they will be way under one percent and if they raise it a point they will be way over. There is just no way to know how there will resolve these issues.
My personal opinion is any selection score in the 99th (national) percentile or even very high 98th percentile in Mississippi will make NMSF. I think any score in the 98th percentile has a very good chance. Anything in the high 97th percentile is unlikely but possible, and low 97th percentile will not make it.
@annamatisse Ok thanks! Good luck to you too.
Now have access code but damn sight is down. I think the CB gets a score of 390 and 380 for complete mismanagement
I can access them now, but the website has crashed.
Where are the SI numbers people are referring to? Is there a table I’m not seeing somewhere?
