**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

@PAMom21 There are a handful at my sons school that could use another year and they are starting to increase the numbers but I agree it needs to start earlier. There are a lot of capable kids they just need to be exposed to the material.

@JuicyMango Agreed, but I haven’t been able to find any of that data. Also, from this group, all we could hope to learn is where the National 99% mark is. One student with index n = 99%, the next with index n-1 = 98%. If we had this for the last several years, you could see how far each state cutoff is from this number and have a decent idea where the cut may be.

Could someone tell me how to figure the index score? My daughter just received her scores. Thank you.

@PAMom21

Congrats to your son!. UCF is on my D’s list. I doubt she will get NMF but we are hoping for a little love from UCF any way.

I have a friend who says he got 1370 with a SI of around 203-205 and scored 99th percentile…not sure how this adds up with everything else, maybe he was looking at an individual section percentile

@brazos21 I hope your dean is correct but I think 216 will just miss it :frowning:

Does a 211 have any chance in Illinois? Last year was a 215.

because I also know a friend who scored 1350 and got 98th and 97th percentile for the two national categories

@EarlVanDorn Does the AL benefit to NMSF apply to non-resident applicants?

@drshoema, your 99th data wouldn’t help you with the selection index, as depending on the verbal/math breakdown, you will have kids flip flopping each other at the cut points.

But for the overall 1520 score, I noted someone at 1400 with a 99th, and someone with a 1360 at the 98th, so that cut is somewhere in that range. Again, this won’t tie directly to the 99th cut for SI.

@canes19 If she is on the website, click the “NMSC Selection Index” link near the top. If she has the PDF, it’s on page 3.

Lowest 99%'s seem to be:
Verbal 690
Math 720
Total 1410

I have not seen the actual report. Daughter texted me and told me the score is on a 0-1520 scale this year. College board has provided a table to convert the new scores to the previous scores. See this webpage: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/psat-nmsqt-preliminary-concordance-tables-2015.pdf

Thank you. I will give her this information. It looks like she did worse with the new format. She scored 202 last year and was hoping to improve her score but I don’t think she did. We are in Florida and she did receive the letter from Stanford. She was hoping to qualify for NM so she could get the Florida Incentive Scholarship like her brother.

Still no scores. (MN)

Im from NJ and I still have my 2014 PSAT showing on my thing. WHYYYYYYY ISSSSSS ITTTTT SOOOOO LOOOONGGG

I got 1400. 700 in both. 99th percentile overall, 98th math 99th english so 99 percentile is 1400 too.

Anyone have a 710 in math? What percentile is that?

My score is up. Where do I see the SI?
