Hi, I applied to take part at a gifted summer program this summer. Anyway I got the practice test a few days ago; so today i filled it out and here are my results

Critical Reading: 74
Math: 56
Writing Skills: 75

Total: 205

Anyway the lower math score makes sense as english is something you can pick up as you go along and as I am in first year of secondary school in ireland which is 7th grade here an the way the curriculum is there we haven’t covered all of algebra and some other things.

So what percentile would i be in and what do you suggest i do to be prepared for the math test, i.e. what should i look over etc?

If you can get a 205 on the real PSAT, you’ll certainly be in the 99th percentile for 13-year-olds. Note that 205 is the lower boundary for qualifying to be a National Merit semifinalist in several US states. (AKA, that’s pretty good.)

For the math test, it’s not really filled with concepts for which you can cram in a week or two. Review geometry (maybe basic trig and angle theorems such as those [here](http://www.wyzant.com/Help/Math/Geometry/Lines_and_Angles/Angle_Theorems.aspx)). Also know formulas for areas of basic shapes (quadrilaterals, circles, triangles).

Review basic algebraic concepts: variable manipulation, how functions work, etc. Know how to read the graph of a line. Know how percents/fractions/ratios work, etc.

thanks! 99th percentile, if i can repeat that or if i do drop by only one or two percentiles i can get in, the gifted program accepts everyone over 95th but i would like to improve my math as indicated in my username i love physics and hope to study theoretical particle physics or maybe experimental in college and they are really maths intensive
