I realize that I am thinking early but I was wondering how I compare to others looking to applying to Duke and to others who were admitted or are currently attending. I wanted to know what you got for your sophomore and Junior PSAT scores. I am a sophomore and I am really worried because I just got my results and I got a 187 (Hoping to raise it 210+ next year with some studying). Do you remember what you got?

hey man, I applied ED for 2015 - first, I personally don’t believe PSAT scores determine your SAT scores accurately; to me, they were completely different tests. But if you’re curious, my first time sophomore year was a 21-something and I got a 230 as a junior. However, my SAT’s were a little bit different. All in all, I wouldn’t worry b/c you’re only a sophomore - just get good SAT scores and grades, kick ass on your EC’s and you’ll do well…

They are extremely similar tests. You should be able to raise your score at least 20+ points with some solid studying (if you have never studied before).

I got a 170 something on my PSAT and got a 2010 on my first SAT with no studying lol.

I got a 170 something 10th grade, 180 something 11th grade, and a 2340 on my SAT. PSAT doesn’t really matter, nor is it an accurate predictor of success on the SAT imo.

I’m applying ED for the class of 2015. Sophomore year I got a 231 and Junior year a 226. My SAT I was a 2320.

It’s a very accurate predictor of success on the SAT. We just all have massive selection bias-as in we all study. So perhaps when you are looking at the best 5% students in the nation the predictability declines somewhat, but that’s to be expected. For that rest 95%, it’s a very accurate predictor of SAT performance. This is just massive selection bias.

Btw, I’m just an applicant, and I got a 184 both sophmore and junior year and I have a 2100 SAT.

199- 10th
208- 11th
2290 - real thing

PSAT does not determine sat scores. I took it and got something really crappy like a 121(don’t take it high, I then got a 1790 on the sat. I took it in my junior year and got a 198. I got a 2160 on the sat that year.

PSAT - 175
SAT - 2130

PLAN - 23
ACT - 33

I didn’t have a tutor for SATs or ACTs

PSAT sophomore - 180 something
PSAT junior - 208
SAT (first time) - 2240
SAT (second time) - 2350

I did a good amount of preparation for the SAT’s after taking the PSAT. it makes a difference.
