How do we know what we made on it when we took it as a jr?

Your school didn’t give you the results? The results were available in Dec. '08 I believe.

David123: You should have gotten a score report and online access last winter. Check with your GC if you don’t have the information as the school usually does (since they’re usually administered in school.)

Re: the nixing of NM scholarships. What a disappointment. There aren’t that many non-need based merit awards out there, and with the economy the way it is, it’s another area where middle class families are getting squeezed. Reminds me of the phrase “penny wise & pound foolish.” Waiting to see what is happening with the University of Tennessee-Knoxville; their NMSF was $4000/year and their NMF/Achievement was $8000/year. Coupled with the TN Hope Lottery scholarship, that basically meant a free ride. A week ago their website still reflected that; now it’s a very generic “The award amount varies and is a part of an eligible student’s overall aid package at UT” with no mention of NMSF at all.

I know you should put Undecided on the First-choice college question until after March, but is there any downside to putting down College Major and Intended Career?

Any news on CT, NY or MA??

kidsatm, nothing in Wisconsin yet either–maybe they’re slow getting to the Midwest?

I’m in Texas and haven’t received anything yet. Do they tell you if you don’t make it?

I got mine today in Michigan, Clarimom.

NMSF notification was sent out by 1st class mail on Aug. 25 from Evanston, Illinois. Commended scholars notification will be sent out on Sept. 20. (There are not any, "Sorry, you did not make … letters.) If you received the notification in the spring of being among the 50,000 then you will receive notification about which designation you received. Schools should probably have received info for NMSFs by now, but whether it got into the right hands and was given out students may be another story. Check with your guidance counselor or principal.

Our school principal (here in MN) swears they didn’t receive anything yet and I have to think someone made national merit scholar finalist we usually have five or six (small school). I am thinking it most likely is sitting in someones desk drawer because they haven’t figured out where it goes or what to do with it.

It does seem a little odd that we haven’t heard from any NMS finalists in MN, WI, IA or ND. Kind of a blank spot in the middle of the map (hey no laughing NY, CA people etc.)

Principal called today - 212 in Ohio.

Looks like OH is down 1 pt vs yago, MO is down, IL and MI are either flat or down, as long as MN doesn’t buck the trend and go up my D should be ok.

In MA, I had a 224, and a friend of mine who got it had a 221, so for now, MA is <= 221.

We need wyoming Montana Idaho and north Dakota.
Hint. Hint

And also . . . CT!!

can we please have NY???

No one is hiding scores from states that haven’t been reported yet. They haven’t been reported because no one here at CC who checks this thread has reported them.

The scores reported for the states currently on the list are not definitive; take Maryland (my state) as an example. So far, one person has reported that his/her kid has gotten NMSF with a score of 234, but that does not mean that we have full info for Maryland yet. We don’t know what the minimum score is to qualify in Maryland. So far, the minimum scores for only Kansas and Alabama are up.

It’s going to take time, as schools take their time in handing out the NMSF notifications; begging for scores from states which haven’t yet been reported is futile.

In my state, by law, public schools can’t open except with special exemptions before Labor Day. Maybe other states have similar school year calendars. Be patient. People can’t report scores until they receive their letters from their schools, in most cases.
