PSAT Scores!

Well we got our scores back today. I got a 213, 67 CR, 78 Math (*********), and 68 Writing (CURVE WAS RAPE).

Basically I’m in Illinois and probably wont get semi-finalist, and I was wondering if commended is even worth putting on the application. Seems like it would hurt me…

Can’t hurt to put it on, will not help. You will want proportionally higher scores to get in. The math gets much harder, the reading and writing get easier.

You may get lucky with a 213!
The cutoff score for the class of 2010 was a 214 (in Illinois), and it has fluctuated by a point or two for the past several years

haha vivienne dont get my hopes up ; )

To rephrase the question, will it be a bad thing that NU sees I got b/w a 200-213 on the PSAT? I mean should i just send in the SAT scores without mentioning the PSAT? (SAT will most likely be 2200-2300)

I BOMBED my PSAT, because taking mine in my state…it was futile. You’ll never have to report it. Nor will you even have to acknowledge that you took it. Don’t worry about the actual score, but if you do get a commendation def put it on, can’t hurt!

I think you should put it on. Especially if your SAT scores show improvement, don’t you think that will look good? I was a commended student (missed it in Wisconsin by two points, of course :P). I wouldn’t think it would hurt your chances at all.

I put that I was a commended scholar on mine and I don’t think it hurt anything. If they don’t consider it, they won’t acknowledge it, but if it gives you extra points, might as well have it on there. If you browse through the kids who got accepted, a lot of the stats say commended scholar on them. Hope that helped!

I had a 201 on my Psat. I have a 2270 in my real SAT. Guess which one I’m going ot put in?

213 is a fairly decent score, especially if you live in America (internationals are another story). I’d say put it on there and get 2150+ on the real ones.

haha okay thanks. Guess ill put it on. The improvement thing makes sense.

Whats the likelyhood that NMSF drops to a 213 = D
