I’m taking the PSAT this wednesday and I just took the practice test. I got a 186 on it. Is that decent score? Also, what do you think would be a projected SAT score range? Like…1700+?

your projected sat score would probably be 1860.

projected sat score is 100-150 points more than your psat score, for you probably a 1960-2000

Where are you getting your information from? His projected SAT score would be lower than his PSAT score. For thing, the sheer endurance required to diligently complete a 10 section test as opposed to a 5 section test will lower his score. Additionally, PSAT math does not cover Algebra II topics, which the SAT does. I would project his SAT score at 1780-1830.

What Godfather Bob said. Its not always the case that it will go down though. If you have good test taking and endurance in focusing the extra time won’t make much of a difference. I actually got the same score on both. My section scores switched around for some reason though, my writing went down 70 but my CR went up 50 and my math 20.

^ but when i went to collegeboard it stated that the projected sat scores were 100-200 points more than your psat score. You can’t rely on it ofcourse, but according to collegeboard the psats are harder than the sats [b/c of the harsh curve]…i got my source of info from the psat quickstart guide …since i took the psats in my soph yr.

i guess it might depend on the section, I know my math was projected higher but my writing was projected lower.

My SAT score increased 210 points more than that was projected by my PSAT (that was last year) So, it is quite possible to have a higher score on the SAT than projected by your PSAT as desichick said…

that’s only because it’s typical that kids take PSAT in early junior year and SAT near end of junior year and early senior year. If one were to take both PSAT and SAT in october, one would likely get a lower SAT score.

I took my first PSAT last year, and my SAT this March (5 month difference). But it was my sophomore year, so go figure…

I took the SAT on Oct 4th and got 2370. I took the PSAT on Oct 18th and am expecting to get about the same exact score(I missed a writing question). the SAT is longer and a tad trickier, but the easier curve balances it out with the PSAT.
