PSU 2+2 vs. Stony Brook

So I’m going to be studying Businesses (Don’t know specifically) I got accepted into Penn States 2 years on another campus then 2 years on University Park. I asked my counselor and he said that on my college transcript it would only indicate a Penn State degree. On the other hand, I got accepted to Stony Brook for business also. It is definitely cheaper but I still don’t know which school is more worth it. I will also be in the ROTC programs whatever school I go to. Which do you recommend?

Stony Brook. It is cheaper, and you have a direct admit to the program you want.

@happymomof1 What would be the difference between a direct admit to the program at Stony Brook at the admit to the program at Penn State just at a different campus? What is the difference between the programs at these two schools? Is one better?

It was not clear to me that you absolutely were admitted to the business major at PSU given that you need to start at a branch campus. If the courses are perfectly aligned, and then you just change location, then it is not too bad.

However, there are advantages to being on one campus for all four years as at Stony Brook. It will be easier to get to know all of the professors in your department because they will all be in the same place with you. It also will be easier to stay on top of internship and eventually job opportunities because all of that information will be where you are.

Unless you have hard evidence that the career center at PSU will place you into jobs that you absolutely desire, and that you absolutely cannot be placed into from Stony Brook, there is no good reason to study there. In your own words, Stony Brook is “definitely cheaper”. Save that money to help yourself get started in your career after graduation.

Somehow, I do not get the impression that career center placement is all that relevant to the OP, since s/he apparently wants to be a military officer (through ROTC at either school).

Agree.

Note that entering a business major at PSU Main requires a 3.2 college GPA in 19 to 29 credits of college work including specified prerequisite courses:

So if you have direct admission to your desired major at Stony Brook, that is additionally less risky in terms of getting your major, as well as being less expensive.

@ucbalumnus @happymomof1 I really appreciate all the feedback and will help make my decision.
