@BeachMom21 I think we did the same thing - wanted summer if only declined for UP, but ended up picking summer to start. I believe I read from other folks that the summer if declined for UP option was later in the process. Not a huge deal - if he does summer he’ll go right from that to band try-outs, then start classes. My son does not want a branch campus as he really wants to be in the Blue Band, and can’t do that remotely! I am trying to resign myself to the thought that it could be Jan. 30 before we know…but with lots of recent acceptances, that’s not so easy!
Hi, I don’t really come on much but I just got accepted to DUS after what felt like years of waiting so I thought I should contribute! I applied mid-October and just heard back today. I have a 4.0 GPA but barely took any advanced classes so I’m a bit surprised I was admitted. I sent in 2 sat scores, which were a 1750 and 1810. (My math was higher on one and my writing was higher on the other) Decent extracurriculars. Good luck everyone, I know the wait can be brutal but it will be over before you know it!

@psudream gpa 3.9 uw, 4.0 w, 12 honors/ap classes, 1870 sat (640 math & English 590 writing. Good, solid ECs, including finance chair of our mini-thon that raises $250k. App complete October 10. Smeal does not have different requirements, but is one of the most competitive colleges at PSU.
Accepted today at 10am! 3.53 GPA 28 ACT tons of ECs, leadership, and volunteer hours. One club sport (15 years) considering doing it in college.

Still waiting for Smeal… applied in October, 28 ACT and 3.4 gpa W… have not heard of anyone who has gotten accepted to Smeal. Based off of last year I think the acceptances will mostly occur in late January

IIRC from last year, the online application was a little unclear regarding how to indicate a preferred starting semester. Fall, Spring, and Summer are all listed clearly. But fall /with option of summer if denied for fall/ could only be accessed by a drop down menu under Fall. We didn’t know the drop down menu existed, so my son indicated summer start as first preference so as not to be shut out. It was only through CC that we realized there was a Fall/with summer option/ available; we called admissions and had it changed before decisions, and he was admitted for Fall start.
Not really clear on PSU merits. I read the ebook they give you on the portal that talks a bit about merit scholarships, but still not clear. Anyone know how/when those accepted would hear about merit scholarships? I realize it likely won’t be much.
