PSU Class of 2020 Decision Thread

When do they return from break?

Jan 4th

I submitted my app over to University Park for review, (I originally applied to PSU Harrisburg and got accepted). Yesterday I found out that University Park transferred my app back over to Harrisburg, and I got my Harrisburg offer again. I concluded that this means University Park rejected my application. Can I appeal this decision? Can I tell an admissions counselor that I want to do undecided instead? No summer option. Would applying undecided increase my chances? My stats are a 3.4 weighted gpa and a 1240 SAT score. I had a family emergency in 11th grade and I wrote about that in the essay. I think the counselor rec. was also great.

^ Your GPA is below average for UP and your SAT is really below average for UP. TBH I’d just take the Harrisburg acceptance.

@DragonFire16 was your sat score just reading and math? or was that for all 3?

@bodangles I figured they were below avg, but perhaps the family emergency can help. I’m ready to do undecided after all. Plus I got some extracurriculars. My class rank is on target as well.

@asaberian it was for all 3.

I originally applied for Info sciences and tech.

Is it even worth appealing?

@DragonFire16 To be honest…with an SAT that low. I think an appeal would not be worth it. Take the Harrisburg acceptance…hopefully in 2yrs you can transfer to UP.

@DragonFire16 Your gpa is a 50/50 but your sat is unfortunately way too low… My sat reading+math was a around 1240 and it’s still not competitive enough

@coco2222 your’s is competitive enough it’s just not guarenteed

@asaberian thank you it’s good to know

Hi guys

Any chance for Computer Science?

Perm. Resid. currently studying in Taiwan (US freshmen)

SAT CR/M/W (comp./total) : 540/800/570 (1340/1910)
SAT Subject Test (Math Lv 2/Physics) : 800/750
TOEFL (R/L/S/W) : 101 (29/27/23/22)

Top 6th high school in Taiwan (very competitive)
School doesn’t report GPA, offer IB/Honors/AP courses

9th-11th Grade : 83.7 (on a 100 scale UW)
(Scale Conversion : A=80-100, B=70-79, C=60-69, D=40-59, F=under 40)
10-11th Class Rank : 390/869 (44%) … I know …:stuck_out_tongue:

@jlhpsu @zipbags you seem like you know a lot about psu applications and acceptances, what do you think my chances are of getting in with a 3.7 gpa(14 honors) and a 1750 SAT. I also checked the summer option. I’m in state at a small catholic school. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

@Ian123 I am no expert, but your stats are in the slightly above average range. If you apply DUS with summer option you will have a better chance. PSU takes GPA 3/4th decision and Scores 1/4th. Good Luck!

@ian123 I think you should be good. Did you apply before the Nov.30th priority deadline?

@crazycat220 ok thank you

@zipbags yes I applied mid October and my application was complete by the beginning of November. I also applied DUS

Pardon me didnt include much details. In my country students do O-levels and A-levels. I had 9 A’s in O-levels and and 4 A’s in A-levels. Expected grades were all A*'s. My latest subjects are chemistry, physics, maths and economics.

@crazycat220 sorry for the late reply, I applied around the end of September. They had all of my supporting materials maybe the first-second week of October
