PSU Class of 2020 Decision Thread

It also depends on what major students are enrolling in. I know a kid in my school who was maybe a 3.5 GPA and 1500 SAT who was accepted into University Park for architecture… Statistically they accept students who have GPAs who are higher than their average and lower than the average. Since colleges look for more rounded off students, they may select more involved students with lower GPAs over students with solely just a high GPA and no extracurricular. I am involved in a decent amount of clubs and activities besides my grades. I wish everyone luck who is applying and hope they get accepted as well:) Go Penn State

Hey guys I have a question. So i submitted my Application fee and Official Test Scores, but my guidance counselor hasn’t submitted the web application yet. I think my guidance councilor will submit after the winter break (1/4/16) Since the due date is 12/31/15 does that mean my application is late if I turn in my transcript later than the 12/31/15 deadline?

Hi guyz…I submbitted everything to office. But transcripts haven’t reached till now? I sent them on 7th december ; bu(i.e…23 days ago!!)What should I do now?
I am an Indian(international)
Thank you for d help…!.!

@Indijat Really, nothing you can do now until next Monday (Jan.4). That is when the admissions office re-opens.

I have sent all the transcripts(10th, 11th and 12th class) from one school counselor. However, my schools in 10th and 11th, 12th were different. Would it affect in any way?( All transcripts were certified from particular school!)

Thank u zipbags…hope it’s all ok!

@coco2222 the priority deadline was November 30th, so if all of your materials weren’t in by Nov. 30 then you will not receive your admissions decision until AFTER all the priority applicants receive theirs, aka you will hear sometime in February/March

@tmperini im applying for regular and what i’m worried is about if I don’t get in the material by the regular decision deadline which is 1/4/16 what happens then?

@coco2222 Since penn state offers rolling admissions your place would be determined according to the accommodation left for particular major you applied to (and how competitive your application is to earn acceptance) …thats the most likely answer to your question

@bilal11 so you are saying that it is “ok” to submit my material on 1/4/16 when the final due date is 12/31/15?

Is there anyone who has got accepted in Computer Science? (abroad or particularly from pakistan)

@coco2222 you should have applied within the deadline to be on the safe side…but I am just mentioning a possibility that if your application is worth an acceptance you will be accepted even after deadline…the same case was with my friends sister 2 years back…she applied late (after deadline) still got accepted because her application was very strong (way above average)

@coco2222 The dates st this point mostly have to do with when you will hear a decision. The later you apply, the more “spots” that may be taken, but yes, it is ok to apply January 4. If you apply by December 31st, you are guaranteed a decision by February 28. If you apply by January 31, you will hear by March 31. If you apply after Jan 31, you will be notified within 6 weeks. There is not really an “end” date for spplications. Decisions are due by May 1, so logistically applications would have to be in 6 weeks prior to thst. But, while it is true that the later you apply, the harder it is to get in, lots of people still get in in Feb and March.

@jlhpsu thank you!! you had the answer I needed!! I don’t mind if spots are taken I just want to submit it safely

If you get accepted to Summer can you still room with someone who got accepted for Fall??? How does the rooming situation work for summer? If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

@ssuptina I’m not sure how it works but you can definitely room with someone who got accepted for fall.

Is Honors Program really worth it? For example Schreyer, should I apply for it?

@bilal11 I also applied to the honors program and it seems to be a good experience. I have two friends in it and they are truly enjoying the various benefits associated with such a program.
