PSU Class of 2020 Decision Thread

This really stinks! I applied in the beginning of November to summer session and still haven’t heard yet!

Hey all , check out payscale.com. College ROI results 2015. Look up Pennsylvania. Penn state is in the top ten and PSU Branch campuses beat main on ROI! Count your blessings for any acceptance!

Anyone else having their status message changing today? Went from check back soon …back to under review… UGH!!

@Thewaiting4ever this happened to me too! so annoying

@majorkey101 any idea why??

@Thewaiting4ever no idea

@benkenobi no one who applied after November 30th will hear until after january 30th. Only those who applied before the priority deadline will hear :smiley:

@majorkey101 Well good luck I’m hoping it means something good. Were you waiting on a decision or a reconsideration? I guess I’ll be up till Midnight checking again

@Fisherprice111 It appears that some who applied after 11/30 have received acceptances already.

@Thewaiting4ever waiting for a decision!! good luck to you… fingers crossed !

@jlhpsu I was wondering why my son received a letter for his acceptance via email and was told to email someone about his decision to go to summer session? Is that an odd thing? Like his portal didn’t update but went today from saying check status to reviewing again? Like is that good news? I don’t know if he got accepted or not?

@aspada1027 yes, that is a weird thing. PSU has not emailed decisions In the past. Usually the portal updates and then a few days later you get your acceptance packet in the mail. We didn’t get any email notification. If you were emailed a decision, then the portal SHOULD also reflect what you were emailed.
Were you emailed by a specific admissions rep? Did the email say he was accepted for summer? You can only accept your offer through the portal (and pay the $330 fee). You can’t accept through email.
I’d call admissions tomorrow or call the specific person who sent you the email. Your situation is unique and not one I’ve seen before.

@jlhpsu Yes actually an admissions person sent me the email. Then I had to contact someone in the IST department and when I did contact them about summer session cause that’s what I was offered they said my portal will say that I will be offered summer at up but I haven’t received it yet but the guy replied this morning so maybe tonight at midnight my portal will change. The email did btw say he was accepted to summer at UP

do I need to call them for reconsideration or do I email them?? how does reconsideration work?

@dtheman172 -Personally I would call them. I wouldn’t feel comfortable just sending an email and wondering if they received it etc. It only took about 10 minutes on hold to get through and the person that talked to us was nice and helpful and did not rush us no matter how many questions my son and I asked. You will feel better if you talk to someone live. She also put us on hold for a good 5 minutes to review his file. So I am guessing she was looking at a few things to even say that we could make the changes to be reevaluated. I think at least one person on these threads has said they were turned down outright. She came back and said she was making the changed and it would take about 2 weeks to get a decision. The next day our portal changed to from major of Comp Eng to DUS and being updated message appeared followed by the “currently under review” message. Now we wait…again. In the meantime his acceptance package for Altoona came in the mail today. So those go out right when the portal updates.

I’m new to this thread, if one has a Penn State account that that link you directly to the portal. Still awaiting a
a decision and hoping we did not miss any updates.

@Phampton62 You have to check the portal yourself. They won’t tell you when it’s updated - other than a few days later you will receive a packet in the mail.

@aspada1027 Then at this point I would wait to see what the portal says and go from there. Still a very weird order of events for you.

Accepted to University Park, Fall 2016 Chemical Engineering!

GPA: 3.62 weighted
ACT: 29
SAT II subject tests: Chemistry - 730, Math 2 - 680

EC’s: two sport varsity athlete, 60 hours community service, involved in Church youth group, two jobs.

Really surprised that I got into fall engineering with such a low GPA and average ACT score for that major. I go to a very rigorous nationally recognized high school, so that may have been the hook if there was one.

Accepted!
GPA: 3.9
ACT: 25
SAT II: 510 US History
Really shocked! Can’t wait to study here

@johnnymanzielfan Congrats. What is your major? Did you apply for Fall or summer?
