@mick80 That makes sense. I know there are bulks of time when admissions counselors shut themselves in a room, alone or as a gourp, to go through app’s.

Regarding what time the statuses update, my D’s status updated around 6pm BOTH TIMES… When she got “in the coming days” and when she got her acceptance (24 hours later). I was OBSESSIVELY checking… Same with many others…so maybe on their end they do their thing in the morning, but we see it in the evening? Just guessing here. I keep checking CC for happy news for my CC friends…hang in there! Good luck!

@girlfromworld1 Thank you, it’s very helpful to see everyone’s stats.
Ok so I’m going to out myself here in real life. I asked the admissions facebook today about whether the status would update to the coming days over the weekend. Here is my question and their answer. Helpful I think…
My Question on their page:
“Could my Daughters status go from “reviewing credentials” to “coming days” over the weekend? Or if you don’t yet have the coming days, will it not update until next week?”
Their answer:
“Penn State Undergraduate Admissions: Hi Jenna. Decisions made today will go into “coming days” status tomorrow, but the actual decision would not get posted until early next week. This allows us time to do one final check to make sure the right decisions are going to the right students.”
So anyone that sees that question, that is me. I look normal enough, right? LOL…
I had a feeling that was you when I saw the question and your initials. Beautiful family! Thanks for your persistence in trying to get answers.
Though I have to say that their post “The wait is over” doesn’t really ring true. That would imply we were getting answers immediately. Our wait still seems to be continuing. They may need to tell their social media intern to be more careful of his/her word choices. It was well-intentioned, but kind of misleading. Maybe a better choice, “The wait is nearing the end” or “Yeah, we know it’s been 5 months but give us one more week and we promise it’ll get done.”
@jlhpsu, @ncny215 I’m not hugley FB literate. I’m on the page, I think, but I don’t see your post. What am I doing wrong?
@pinkmd just scroll down a little to look for their “the wait is over!” Post. You will see comments under that post and that’s where you will find my question.
@ncny215 thanks I knew with as much as I post here that someone reading over there would put it together, lol.
@pinkmd Go to the PSU Admissions page. Scroll down a few posts to “The wait is over” post and then click on the comments (it’ll look like a dialogue cloud).
I have summer session listed as a second choice. If I called them up and asked them to make it my first choice would it help my chances.
I’m not on FB, so thanks for posting here. So, this means that at best, we have tonight and tomorrow for a possible status change, but in either case, no final decision until next week?
I have another question for you all: have you checked with your hs counselors to see if they have an insights into this process?
@BigBang231 From what I understand, they will first consider you for fall and then if you don’t meet those requirements they will consider you for summer. I don’t think you need to call and make that change. Someone else with more experience might disagree but from everything I’ve been reading, I think that’s how it goes.
@Leyland Our counselors told us to get the Penn State applications as early as possible, so I’m not sure they have any more insight than we do as date of application has not seemed to have any bearing on when/how they are reviewed.
@jlhpsu Got it, very nice looking family!
@pinkmd thanks: My oldest D is my only one not adopted. My 6’4" 16 year old son is from Russia, the other two from China.
Thankfully the 16 year old wants Penn State but he wants to start at a branch so the waiting won’t be as long!
@BigBang231 it doesn’t benefit you to change it as far as I understand. They evaluate you for fall first, then summer if you aren’t admitted for fall. So selecting summer off the bat is no advantage. Either way, it’s the same criteria and with the first scenario you have at least the possibility of fall.
I have been watching the status of my twins (closer than they are - as I’m an alum) - their posts changed around 11 AM today to…coming days…, so not sure if they will hear their decision tonight, tomorrow or next week. This really is killing me, twins bring a whole other “set” of issues to the wait. I am going to call a counselor soon, if I get anymore insights, I will post. Good Luck to All! Also, let’s remember no matter where a kid goes, in the end, it is the type of person he or she is that will determine their overall success and happiness! (It is so easy for me to say it, when I’m a nervous nelly…).
My D status finally changed to coming days!!! The wait is really over!!!
