Psych major to Pre Med

I am 26 year old woman living in California and finishing my bachleors has been a long time coming. I am about a year away from finishing my bachelors in psychology online at Azusa pacific university. I now want to go to med school and have about 7-9 classes to complete as prerequisites for medical school. Any advice is welcome but my main question is How I should proceed. Can I stay enrolled online and complete my ba in psych while being enrolled on campus at a cal state to work on my prerequisites? Or would it be best to finish psych, then work on a ba in biology? Or drop psych and focus on a BAin biology? Also how will financial aid be affected? Especially if I finish my BA in psych first and then work on BA for biology. Thank you to anyone who responds!

The psych degree is totally fine. But you should get the pre-reqs completed: two years of chemistry with lab (general and organic), one year physics, general bio with lab, calculus, biochemistry.

You don’t need a second degree unless it falls into place that way. Just get those main courses done.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what your saying but if I need to Apply to a cal state (since I’m online and does not offer these courses) how would I apply? Should I do it as a psych major and just change schools or as a bio major?

I’m not sure what you’re asking. A lot do it as a humanities major, but if you really want to save time, then maybe go in as a bio major. (??)

I am currently enrolled in an online school to finish my ba in psych. I know I need to do the prerequisites but I need to apply to a on campus school. Therefore what do I apply as. Should I transfer and finish my psych at an on campus school or can I stay enrolled online to finish psych and apple to an on campus school to work on my prerequisite

I don’t know how the online BA system works. You might be better to transfer, finish your BA in psych while you take the classes.

If you wait until after you have the BA it may be harder to get in to a college without going for a second BA. Honestly, I don’t have an answer. It’s just territory I don’t know. Sorry.
