Psychology major in Revelle

Hi,

I’m accepted to Revelle College with Psych major. I’m a little scared to take 4 chem/physics courses. But since I’m more interested towards the neuroscience part of psych I guess it would be pretty helpful to take some science courses. I heard that UCSD already focuses on the neuroscience in their psychology, is that true? Will I survive taking 5 science courses for a psych major?

Thanks a lot!

Short answer: yes, you will survive give that you put in the time and effort. Actually, I’m pretty sure that you need to take a year of science to get a BS in psych [B.S</a>. Degree](http://www.psychology.ucsd.edu/undergraduate-program/degree-program/B.S..html) .

UCSD doesn’t necessarily focus on neuro. You can opt to take classes that will provide more depth to your curriculum by choosing electives to your liking.

Point of advice: a B.A. by its degree requirements is useless if you do plan on using your psychology major for anything meaningful after college. If you’re going to pursue it, do the B.S. and get involved in independent research as soon as possible, or else you’ll only be getting job offers that anyone with any degree could get.

Congrats-I’ve also been accepted into Revelle with a Psych major! I was wondering if it’s possible to transfer high school AP Science classes to Revelle, because UCs take AP credits right?

@Jellypants: Actually, UCSD FORCES you to use AP Credits. Any AP Credits you have will automatically be used.
