Psychology Majors...

What are some of the “funny” or “annoying” questions people ask once they find out you’re a psych major?

Some things that have been asked to my (psych major) friend:

“So, are you getting a job with that?”
“What’s my body language saying?”
“Do I have a personality disorder?”

Mostly, people think a psych major can read a person’s mind after a conversation with them. Ha!

psych majors dont know sh**
trust

“Oh, I had a dream about ____________ the other night. What does that mean?”

One of three: “Oh, so you can tell me what’s wrong with me”, “Oh, so you can tell us what’s wrong with so-and-so”, or “Oh, so you can read my mind.”
The answers to which are, of course, a) Yes I can-you’re an idiot, b) Yes I can- he spends too much time with you, and c) I hate you.

My other favorite is when you have a conversation with anyone and they assume you’re “using psychobabble” or psychoanalyzing them. I’m not using psychobabble, I’m just saying things you don’t want to hear. I’m not analyzing, I can just see what’s obvious. A math major can be in a room and not count everything in sight, just like I can have a conversation without analyzing someone.

“Can you tell me my future by the shape of my bowel movements?”
