Psychology

I am considering going into McGill for psych, but am curious as to the what the ramifications are if someone who is not from Quebec get a Quebec degree. Assuming the person winds up getting a bachelors and wants to go somewhere else for their masters, are they qualified to apply to universities outside of Quebec?

And if that person winds up getting their PhD from McGill, do they have the ability to apply for a psychology license from another province? Or is that PhD not recognized in another part of the country because it was achieved outside the province that the person wants to live/work in?

I’m not sure if I explained myself correctly; if I haven’t, let me know and I’ll try to reword it.

Thanks,
Echoes

Degrees from McGill are pretty much recognized everywhere. You’d have no problem applying for a Master’s anywhere you want. Same goes if you get the PhD.

If I’m not mistaken, you need a masters in Psych in most provinces to be a licensed psychologist. A master’s from any university in Canada and almost any university in the US fits the bill. As for undergrad, a degree from McGill is recognized anywhere else in North America and most of the world.

Dswrdr, you are correct about need a phd to be a licensed psychologist.

Thank you both for your responses.
