psychology

what schols offer a lot of psychology courses? most offer intro to psych and then thats it…

st. paul’s does not. thats why i dropped it

Choate does. They offer the most. I’ve compared Choate and Andover, and Choate actually has the stronger department.

It’s one of my favorite things about it.

Hey, Msu, maybe that could be added to your pro list. And mine.

they only offer one non-basic psych course

I think that most prep schools won’t offer that many psychology courses, because only upperclassman can take them, and sometimes you have to take a certain science until your senior year, so taking more than one or two psychology courses isn’t really practical. I wish it were; I will definitely take the psycology courses offered at whatever school I go to, because I’m really interested in that, but I’m afraid for really serious study, we have to wait until college. :(

psychology is a history course

Blair, Choate has SIX psychology courses. You call that just the basics?

…what? lol…

Yes, psychology is considered a history course.

yeah i know. weird… but psychology isnt a science, its considered a history course.
i take it now and its great! i have no idea how its history…
sociology is a history as well

olivia: they’re all the same intro course, just on different levels.

I think because psychology is more of a discussion of human nature than a chemical equation.

At least, that’s what psychiatrists do. I don’t think we’ll be studying chemicals, etc. in a psych class.

most schools have psych …regular…
and psych AP

no… what you’re referring to is a “social science” which is often in the same department as history and other humanities.

yeah i know but theres the brain processes with the axons nd the dendrites and the brain parts and how it works and everything
but i get what you’re talking about

yes, chemicals are involved in psychology and behavioral function. it IS a science, but test tubes aren’t generally used to teach the principles.

Here are Choate’s Psych courses

Intro to Psych
Topics in Adolescent Psychology
Psychology in the Community
Social Psychology, Honors
Child Development, Honors
AP Psychology

You call that ‘just the basics’?

im learning all of those now (except AP)
i guess each one of their courses just goes really REALLY in depth and focuses on each individual one

olivia, if you’re using infosnap right now, is it INCREDIBLY slow?!?!?!
ughhh I’m trying to send it and its taking foreverrrrrrrr

Nope, I already sent in my application. I’m sorry it’s slow for you!
My mom is confused about the financial aid forms. And it says “What were your expenditures on vacations in 2006?” and we were freaking out because she used this money to pay for it that we’ve been saving up my whole life!! It was 60K. :o
