i’ve heard some stuff about how engineering, being an impacted major, would require a higher pt total for the CR

so my question is are any of the popular premed majors (bio, chem, etc.) impacted, and therefore would require a higher pt total than the 7500?

Engineering is not one of the impacted majors here at UCD. However, bioengineering might be.

do u know if like biology, biochem, etc. like any of the popular premed majors are impacted?

also, only impacted majors would have higher pt totals right?

I’m not sure if they are impacted or not, but they sure seems to be a ton of students in those programs.

For impacted majors, you would be competing against other students applying into those same impacted majors. So highest scoring applicants have increased chances of getting in.

if u techinically “lose out” against those high scoring applicants in the impacted majors, BUT u have enough pts, u could still go the college, but just not under those majors?

UCD gives you two choices for majors. I picked Bioengineering as my first choice, genetics as my second choice. I get into genetics, so I most likely didn’t get enough points for College of Engineering, but had enough to get into College of BioSci.

are these pt totals grouped only by colleges? or by colleges, and then specific majors?

The answer of your question depends mostly on the application numbers we receive for the area you are interested in. We will only know the numbers after the application deadline. It is always best to apply for the major you really want to study and use the alternate major option as your backup.
