Public Health Science major

I’m a senior who has already applied for CP. I was wondering whether you think I’ll get into this major. I have around 1900 sat (1230 cr+m) and 3.9 weighted gpa.

Admission to the university is not based on the choice of major. Public Health is not a LEP program, so if you are admitted, you will get into this major.

UNLESS you apply to a LEP (limited enrollment program - see below), IF you are accepted for admission, you are admitted to the major you apply for.

For others with this type of question…IF you apply to a LEP program, then you can be admitted to the university, but may or may not be accepted into the major…thus the term “limited enrollment.” Admissions for LEP then becomes a two-stage process because after the university itself decides to admit you, then the individual department for the LEP (major) will conduct its own review of your application that is separate and independent from the initial admissions review. They have their own metrics to determine which students to offer admission to, and it is more competitive. If you do not get into the LEP you want (called a direct admission) then you CAN re-apply after you start school - after taking specified classes (called "gateway classes), you apply under the status of “internal transfer.”

“These Limited Enrollment Programs have specific “gateway” requirements for admission and determine their enrollments on a space-available basis. These programs include Business, Chemical and Life Sciences, Communication, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Engineering, Government and Politics, Journalism and Psychology.”
