Public school pre-meds

Okay, I’m looking at maybe going to a competitive medical school.
If I were to go to a public school (state school) for pre-med, would that hurt my chances a lot, even if I did well?

no, it would not hurt your chances. The key is that you have to do well, wherever you are.

Also, all medical schools are competitive. More than 55% of all applicants get rejected from every school they apply to. Of the people who do get accepted, they usually only get one acceptance. A small sub-section of people will get accepted to more than one school.
