Well yeah co authored would be more accurate as it was a collection of stories but where does that go in the Common Application?

List it on your resume and attach your resume in the “Additional Information” section.

5th grade, seriously?! I guess I’ll write about all those citizen of the month awards and preschools leadership positions while I’m at it.

If you have continued with your writing, your book is still a significant achievement. Otherwise, I agree with girlofpurple.

If you have continued publishing, then it is appropritate to put it down…ie: Published author of mass-market poetry anthologies (grades 5, 10 and 12).

However, if it was a one-time book in elementary school, it can be brought up in your essay, but I don’t see it having a place in your resume.

D sang in a choir in Carnegie Hall in 3rd grade. She can bring it up in her essay as an amazing experience etc that has inspired her…but it will not be listed on her resume.

You don’t, they want to see what you did in high school. Mention it in your essay if you want but it seems really irrelevant.

Unfortunately, publishing in the 5th grade is not kind of far away from the 9th grade mark. I would do something closer to 9th grade.

i agree with the other posters. unless writing has been a significant focus for you more recently, putting a book you co-authored in 5th grade is not really going to have much of an effect on your application. admissions people really want to see things you have been doing more recently.

I wouldn’t put it on. Seems more like a teacher project
