Published in Magazines Anonymously/Under Aliases?

Hello! I’ve been published in a few online and print publications, but most of my work (creative non-fiction) was published under an alias/anonymously. Can I still list the publications I’ve been anonymously featured in on my application?

Yes, you can.

Why did you publish under an alias or anonymously? I think that would be hard to prove those are yours. Are the publications well known?

@suzy100 Because my stories are creative non-fiction, they’re often extremely personal - to the point where it would be problematic if I were to publish most of my prose under my name. I’ve been published in a few well known publications (Affinity Magazine, Google Arts + Culture, Fjords Review, and TeenInk). What do you think I should do? (Thank you both for responding by the way! @yonceonhismouth )

can you provide proof, eg a contract or evidence of payment for the articles?

I think it’s fine. You should probably provide links to the articles in the additional info section and perhaps say that emails or letters are avaiable for verification.

I think that’s what I’ll do! Thank you so much for your help @Lindagaf @Conformist1688 (I still have all of my acceptance/notification emails)

@zahmata, You’re using what we used to call a pen name. Mark Twain wasn’t born with the name he wrote under either.

I’d list the publications (with links) and say publishing details can be provided if needed.
