Is there a way to see how many students are pursuing a specific major at a college? For example, if I wanted to find out how many students are currently declared as an English major at X college, is there a spot on the college’s website that I should be looking? Or do most colleges not publicly publish that information from year to year? I have searched a few college websites for such info but cannot find anything. Maybe I am not looking in the right place? I can see on various websites which majors are the most popular at certain colleges, but I’d like to see a breakdown of the actual numbers for each major.
It depends on the school. My daughter’s publishes the number of degrees issues by major. Some schools will have a facts and figures page. I would say if you can’t find the info, email the department directly and ask the question.
You can check IPEDS. As an example, you can see that Kenyon recently graduated 65 students who chose English as a “first major”: https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/?q=Kenyon&s=all&id=203535#programs.
