Purdue Class of 2030 Official RD Thread

My daughter was also waitlisted for Pro Flight. She is unlikely to accept a spot on the waitlist. Thanks for the data on waitlist acceptances. That makes it easier to not have feelings of “what if I had received an offer?”

No, this is the year before last. Last year is actually crazy high as 97%

Right. It is something like 9000 waitlisted. 4000 accepted a spot on the list and 3900 got a spot. That is 2025-2026

The CDS momofboiler1 posted is not the current one. Only 9 got off the waitlist in 2024-2025.

The AOs at Purdue are horrible at predicting admission acceptance rates. Hence, the ongoing housing crisis 6 years running.

If she wants to be an airline pilot I can tell you there are cheaper and smarter ways of going about it. Good luck to her. She will be fine.

My information is from the Purdue common data set for 2024-2025, section C2 on page 7: https://www.purdue.edu/idata/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/CDS_2024-2025.pdf

Here is the current CDS. 97% is accurate

Hey, I ended getting waitlisted. I am not sure what to make of it, since almost everyone has been put on the waitlist. What do you think are the odds of getting admission from the waitlist, since it was 97% last year and 0.004% the year before?

I hate to say it but looking at the trends its really impossible to tell. I tried to look back at the housing situation over the last few years to determine if I could discern why one year it was 49% and another .004%. It didn’t correlate but it is why they had 9k waitlisted. Whatever model they use that other schools don’t is not serving them well in determining which kids will accept their admission offers. Additionally, their decision can go out to June 30th. Which is totally ridiculous.

If it’s your number one then I hope you get it. My daughter moved on from Purdue a month ago. I guess it was my number one but not hers. When she opened the link tonight and saw waitlist she smirked without a flinch.

If I had to guess, last year was an anomaly because of the situation with international student visas. But, that WL info is still crazy from last Fall so I honestly don’t know.

My advice to all who have been WLed is to get excited and deposit at a school where you have been accepted. You can be successful from any number of colleges. Purdue doesn’t have a monopoly on that

I will probably make a deposit in the next couple of weeks, and switch to Purdue if I get in.

Thanks for the feedback. She is exploring that and will likely take a different route than the university one.

Very common strategy for waitlisted students.

Good luck. You will do great wherever you end up.

Any one got off waitlist recently? Just heard two got off last week on reddit.

I did not, but I also saw that

So the kid finally got off the waitlist. Couple questions: 1. If any scholarship is offered it is with the decision letter? 2. Have the housing placements already started. Had a relative put in a janitor’s closet in 2021. Not kidding, it was a closet turned into a dorm.

She already committed to the instate rival so I’m pretty sure she isn’t going to Purdue. I’m assuming since she was waitlisted there will be no merit scholarship award. Is that a safe statement?

Merit awards are highly unlikely at Purdue at any stage of the game. Even less so coming off the wait list.

Housing deadline is May 5th and it is NOT first come first serve. The only thing that has closed are applications to living learning communities and roommate match.

I am still on the waitlist. What are the odds I will get housing if I get off in May? Just trying to see if it is worth it to still wait for Purdue. I have committed to another college for now.

I can’t predict what housing will look like for waitlist students who aren’t admitted until after May 5th (the housing deadline), but I’d assume you would need to find off campus housing.

I’m glad to hear that you committed to another school!
