ASAP as long as you have progression from apply date (new/improved ecs, same/improved high grades, etc). If you donât but think you will by EOM, wait until they develop but in general donât let it get to Feb. If you wonât just send it asap.
The EA thread has some good advice on the letterâŠto summarize, donât rehash your original essays, donât tell Purdue how great they are/their rankings but do tell them what you would contribute to campus and what Purdue opportunities youâd take advantage of.
I donât know about mentioning the sibling. my gut says it could backfire as a tactic. Your student needs to make a case on a standalone basis. Good luck!!
Iâve seen several people suggest not rushing, but try to send in your LOCI (Letter of Continued Interest) by the end of January. Some suggested links:
Submit updated grades, complete your LOCI expressing your current level of interest in Purdue, noting any new developments in either your academic, scholastic or extracurriculars after you submitted your original application, ie - my DS received a coachâs award for a fall sport, notified he was an âAP Scholar with Distinctionâ, and had some additional volunteer opportunities.
Unfortunately, his Fall Semester grades wonât be finalized until 2/9. Folks recommended to get the LOCI in first, and make a note that updated grades would be submitted around 2/9.
The short answer not for my DS 24. My son responded mid-last week with updated grades and a âto the pointâ LOCI. Meaning, in his LOCI he expressed a continued high-level of interest in Purdue and provided updated honors and activities. He did not look to provide any additional letters of recommendation or other materials as he was following the deferral notice as closely as he could. We will see if that was in error.
My son is not expecting a response until March but obviously hopes for sooner. Particularly as he would like to visit the campus as it has been a while since he was last on campus.
Could be different this year, but last year I didnât hear of any Deferral decisions coming out prior to March. Once in March, they came in multiple waves.
Makes sense. The deferral notification for my son emphasized a quick response and clearly stated no need for additional letters of recommendation or the retake of a test. Emphasized the last two points with the bolding of text.
The admissions office said Deferred result can be anytime from now to end of March but I have not heard anyone received the result after being Deferred.Anyone?
