Hi all…this may be a little off topic but while my my son is waiting for a decision I’m wondering if anyone has any insight on traveling to Purdue from OOS…we’re in NY right outside of NYC. It seems like it could be expensive and time consuming.

What if I have the LLA letter not in my regular link but from the special link but it does not specifies Upper or Lower? Tried to wait 'till 5:00 ET but it is killing me.

is the LLA form associated with business major? Never seen it, could it be because I applied for something else?

Flights to Indy or Chicago and then the Purdue shuttle (Reindeer Shuttle or Lafayette Limo) to campus. Indy is much closer and less subject to traffic snares.

Here is the direct link: https://apply.purdue.edu/apply/status?cmd=reply_forms#gsc.tab=0

Click on the LLA and it will say upper or lower if accepted for biz.

Personally, I believe if my son is considering a college, he should get on campus to determine if it is the right fit for him. We have traveled to at least 15 campuses already and that has allowed us to know which ones are more of a pass and which ones are more top choices. Colleges look great on-line, but it is hard to determine what the surrounding area is like unless you actually visit the campus and see for yourself. I wouldn’t let my son attend any school he hasn’t at least visited once, but that is just my personal opinion.

Last year it looks like EA portal decisions started updating 45minutes or so before 5p eastern and rolled out to everyone over the hour

One parent shared this photo as example of what it looked like in 2023

I will have to pick a school without visiting any of them and i’m pretty nervous about that.

I thought this was this year for a minute lol

We visited a few within driving distance to get an idea, but did not visit a bunch including Purdue. We will visit if he gets admitted.

I got it now …I believe I dont have Upper or Lower because I am IBE. hopefully!

I visited zero. School is just a place to learn. Lab facility, faculty and student body probably are more important than anything else. As a to-be engineering student, I prepared for no life but study. Well, a decent football program is always nice

We did visit Purdue and liked it a lot. It was on a multi-school, multi-state tour so we really didn’t get a feel for travel to and from where we are in NY.

UM just won this year. Purdue has a long way to go on football.

Purdue probably will never win National Championship in football. But it’s ok, still can be good once in a while. The players are more serious about school I guess (maybe they have to), not like other kids going to college play football, not play school…

Basketball is pretty decent this year

My son travels from LAX to ORD and takes a shuttle from either Lafayette Limo or Reindeer Shuttle, no problem. Flying into Indianapolis is also an option.

Unfortunately, that is not a possibility for all students for various reasons, most of all financial. Purdue is an affordable OOS option, but there is consideration of travel on top of the normal “fit.” That’s why we have forums to help. I have an OOS Boilermaker and have been lucky to visit campus three times, plus have his time there as a reference. I have insight, and I welcome anyone to ask questions if they need to and I will give an honest answer if I have one, or ask my son an answer if I don’t have one.
