I think 4 buttons means you didn’t get your first choice major and have to chose another major. Im just guessing, we will all know in a couple of hours if it meant anything.
@NJdadEngineer Based on the following link, it appears that any FYE student who successfully completes the FYE curriculum by May of their first year (without repeating any required courses) is guaranteed to get into their engineering program of choice. Anyone not completing FYE by then is subject to competitive admissions for any remaining spots in their desired major. In other words, what you put on the application seems to have no impact on what major you can elect.

In addition to engineering, my son put applied statistics as his second choice in case engineering doesn’t work out.
@NJdadEngineer - Some of the majors at Purdue, outside of engineering, are direct admit so that’s why you are hearing the 1st choice/2nd choice stuff. Plus, as noted above, some students can declare a 2nd major outside the college of engineering in case they aren’t accepted to CoE.
The transition to major for engineering was very seamless and the vast majority of students get their first choice.
@LBS2024 – Are you still missing the “Change Major” link? My S has almost identical stats to those you posted (exact same SAT actually) and still no “Change Major” option. Feel like this means it is a hard no. Bummed because Purdue was one of his top choices.
I wouldn’t read too much into it. DD has lower SAT score (1490) than mentioned and has the “Change Major” option. Can’t see how 1510 will be rejected and 1490 be accepted (well anything is possible with these college admissions, I get it). 1 hour and 24 minutes to go, so let’s just sit tight!
The two (still not 4) buttons are back on top
I have 2 as well…
20 points on the SAT is not a statistically meaningful difference (1510 and 1490 both correspond to ACT 34). Other factors would come into play at that point.
.
Anybody else have any updates on buttons showing on their portal? everybody have 2 showing now??
Buttons are back on in a different color. Do the four buttons show up for the people who saw it in the morning
Not showing up yet. I had 4 this morning.
I had 4 this morning and no buttons now.
same here.
Early this morning the portal had 4 buttons, but those disappeared by 6 am, when the portal reverted back to showing the standard 4 tabs: Welcome, Checklist and Status, Upload Documents, Profile and Application Changes. However, the portal does have “cancel your application” and shows “First Year Engineering” in grey under “Change Major.” Good luck everyone!!!
I am laughing at my obsession with these buttons LOL. Even though I’m pretty sure the presence of only 2 means we were denied.
The process is nerve wracking. Best of luck to everyone!
Same here. Not sure if it means anything.
I have a feeling someone in Purdue admissions has two tabs open, one with Admissions Portal and the other with CC. They make some change in Admissions Portal for the sake of changing, immediately switch to CC and laugh at all of us explode with our own interpretations. Wait 10 minutes, repeat. That’s how they are killing time till 5pm. Sadists, I say!! That’s my story and I am sticking to it
They are probably just testing the system before releasing and we are here like Guinea pigs ? I almost can see them making some changes and then reading our reaction ???
Wishing good luck to everyone!!!
@ACatSLP, Then the options of Change Majors and Cancel your application will not be needed right. That’s what is intriguing
