Purdue Unversity BME Program

Help. My daughter is looking at Purdue for Fall 2024. She wants to study BME with a focus on tissue engineering/regenerative medicine. No doubt Purdue is an excellent Engineering school, but she is not finding a lot of information specific to tissue engineering/regenerative medicine.
If you or have a child who have 1st hand experience with BME at Purdue, any thoughts positive or negative would be extremely appreciated.

Unfortunately I can’t help you directly with your question (my D was a chem E involved in polymers and materials) but wanted to recommend that you reach out to CoE and ask if they can put your D in touch with a BME student or even a professor with similar interests. Contact Us - College of Engineering - Purdue University .

Or you can reach out directly to BME: (765) 494-2995

You can also reach out to the Society of Women Engineers on campus - https://www.purdueswe.org/contact-pswe

I will note that BME is one of the more difficult majors to transition to from first year engineering because they cap the major, so even making the required GPA won’t guarantee a seat in the major. There are many BME adjacent majors at Purdue that are less competitive though, but if your D’s heart is set on BME, it’s something to consider.

We have contacted Purdue and they will try to connect us with someone. Will try SWE, thank you!!

Was wondering if you could share your thoughts on how helpful the CoE BME dept was for your questions and what info you may have gotten about the program. My daughter is choosing between Purdue and UMich right now for BME Medical Devices and I think we need some help
soon! Thanks if you can!

Hi. My daughter’s interest is specific to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. It seemed to me Purdue is much stronger in the medical devices area.
