Okay, ladies, take it from here. You know I’m not really going to be the purse person, but you’ve already done enough hemming and hawing about getting this thread started. ;)

Hmmm…this must stem from another thread that I am not aware of yet…but I’ll give it a go and you can tell me if I’m totally off base in what we should be chatting about…

The perfect purse?

My requirements in a purse:
Not too big and not too small
Can be wore crossbody
Easy access cell phone pocket
Preferably under $50.
Somewhat sporty looking
Color can be good!

My most recent revelation of purses that fulfill these needs? Baggallini! Love, love the one I bought late spring. Love the look, the zippered pockets, the durability, the casualness, the pop of color inside (grey on the outside, hot pink on the inside!). As many of you know, can be had often at TJ Maxx for under $50. They currently have some in stock - salivating over a plum colored one that actually has a leather strap - so cute!

(ok, now you can tell me if this post meets the purpose of the thread…)

Zipper pockets inside, for special things rarely used and out, for special things used more often
A bag that actually closes, like a zipper not a magnet, so things won’t fall out inadvertantly
I love the pockets on my current purse, I can pop a cell phone in one and an ipod in another, sunglasses in a third.

Yes, internal pockets, ideally with zippers. I love my Longchamps tote bags for their size, but they are definitely lacking in inside pockets.

Perfect purse is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside! :)

I spend a fair amount on purses. I like them. Tano makes good bags and many of the models have good pockets. I have a Dooney purse in an awesome pattern that I love, although it doesn’t have exterior pockets, which is a pain.

I am on my second one of these:
[Highway » spring/summer 2013](http://highwaybuzz.com/products/category/bag/s09-22-multi-pocket-series)
Only thing it’s missing is zipper compartment inside. It has an inside pocket with a bit of velcro in the middle.

The first one lasted for years of daily use.

One of my favorite purses was a Perlina soft black leather crossbody bag I bought at Nordstrom years ago. For what I think was a very nice purse, it was fairly reasonably priced. It caught my eye from across the room. It has been in retirement for some time now. Didn’t see anything similar out of Perlina when next I went looking for a purse.

Thanks Deborah T! :)

black reptile
zipper closing
inner zipper compartment
handles and detachable shoulder strap (I sometimes like a strapped on bag when I travel. I may wear it under my coat)
little brass feet on bottom of bag
large enough to hold my sunglass case
flat enough to fit on my lap and under the table when out to eat
made in USA

I have been looking around for several months now. I am not sure I can find this bag except maybe vintage? And have the should strap made by a cobbler?

alh, have you look at the Brahmin line? They have many purses that fit your criteria.

Thick pebbled or saddle leather preferred as it lasts almost forever.

Main compartment must zip or buckle shut, and the zipper must be well made to withstand abuse. None of this magnet closure business, they look lovely but I don’t feel they close securely enough for me.

Medium sized–too small and you can’t put in more than a wallet, keys and a couple makeup compacts. Too large everything is sloshing around in all that wasted space.

Two or three zipper compartments, max, either outside or inside to secure things you wouldn’t want an errant hand to easily grab hold of or to hold small things that would rattle around too much in the main compartment. More than that and I start to forget which compartment I put something in and start to panic that it’s mysteriously gone missing.

Strap wide enough to not dig into your shoulder, preferably adjustable with enough holes punched to ensure that the bag body doesn’t fall to mid-thigh when worn crossbody.

Outside cell phone pocket is nice but not necessarily a deal breaker if not present.

I’m not a lady, but I’ve heard the Tom Ford Jennifer purse is really nice if they’ll let you buy one.

Vot…I have a brown Fossil bag that fits your criteria. Brown pebble leather.

VH, I have a good to go bag…look at them at www.g2gbags.com

They are bags you can put your stuff in…and toss in things that don’t have interior pockets. Also good for folks who switch purses often. The g2g bag has zippered and magnetic close pockets, and outside pockets for things you use more often. You just pop the whole thing into your pocketless purse!

French design, Italian leather, primary color. I love buying purses (well only 1 per year) on the RealReal. The only way I can afford YSL or Dior.

My purse situation is a lot like my sofa situation: one good one at a time, usually one that my parents give me, and I wear it forever. I used to be a Coach person–I’m talking the classic Coach, not the newfangled brightly-colored stuff, but my last two have been Dooney and Burke. Must be big enough for a book.

Haha - I see what you did there! :D

I agree that the purse should be bigger on the inside than the outside :)

And it should weigh the same full as it does when I am looking at it in the store.

I have a Coach pebbled leather bag that I have used for years, which justified its cost (at the outlet) and it is just at the outside of heaviness for me.

I like to have more than one compartment - to hold coupons, business cards, etc. separate from wallet etc. But sometimes I can’t decide if I want a big purse or little one.

Musica, is The RealReal similar to RueLaLa? I’ve only heard of those sites here on CC and don’t know much about them at all.

Love this bag.

Chanel classic (caviar) wallet on a chain. That is the purse perfection in my view. It fits a few credit cards, a checkbook (or reading glasses case) and a smartphone - and there is no room left for any other junk! It makes the purse owner get buy with less. :)

I buy one per year, usually in the fall. So far I saw a Marc Jacobs tote that I really like but not quite ready to buy yet.

FYI - did you know that NFL banned purses from being carried into the stadiums?
