Pursuing High School after Olevels

Please guide me on how to send my son to the USA for further studies after his OLevels. We want him to settle there as we plan to shift back to the US after four years. What are the requirements we have to meet- things like area of residency so that he can apply to the best high schools in Houston which is our home base, submission of documents etc.

Still have not gotten a respond from anyone. Please guide

Are you interested in a private or public high school? If public, it is likely you would wish to settle in Houston suburbs such as Katy, Sugarland or the Woodlands, for fine public schools, although some live downtown and attend a good public school, Bellaire. There are a number of excellent private schools as well, including a British School of Houston.

When we moved to the US we found we got the best info from communicating directly with the school district offices. You may also want to contact the school and/or look at discussions on a UK expat forum to figure out the particular challenges in getting a US high school diploma with all the required credits for graduation for a student moving so late during the high school process, including how the school would calculate your son’s GPA. If the British school is an option as indicated above that might be a better choice as your son can probably transfer much more seamlessly to doing A levels. In addition, colleges usually give credit for A levels in the same way they do for AP.

You can usually find residence areas for public schools online. Maybe something like this may help https://tea.texas.gov/texas-schools/general-information/school-district-locator in tandem with figuring out good schools from sources like the city-data forums or greatschools.org .

Choosing the best public schools in the Houston area may not be to your advantage if youre5aiming for UT, TAMU, etc. Indeed, arriving as an 11th grader (or, if he’s 15-16, 10th) he’d be unlikely to get the weighted rank necessary to gain admission to these universities. As a result, his chances may be better at a middle of the road public high school.
What OLevels has he completed and what results did he get?

Will you be sending him here on his own before you move back? Or will at least one of the parents be moving back at the same time as he does?
