Put illegal activity on application?

My sister is transferring colleges and is applying to super competitive top 10 and 20 LAC’s. She plans on putting her extensive volunteer work with a Texas based needle exchange on her application.

I think that’s a terrible idea as Texas is currently the only state in the nation where it’s a crime to organize or participate in a needle exchange (bizarre red-state nonsense).

Am I right in suggesting she not list it? Or at least not point out specifically on her application that it’s illegal in Texas? (She wants to point out its illegal because she’s apparently worried some Adcoms will think she’s lying about participating if they happen to know its illegal in TX and think she doesn’t.)

Is she applying to schools in Texas? If not, I think it would look great. Civil disobedience and looking out for the good of society. These schools are liberal and will approve.

No, I think she was planning on applying to Rice but didn’t.

I mean, theoretically they’re liberal, but isn’t it just a risk for no reason? I don’t understand what the difference would be if she didn’t point out that it was illegal.

Would possible make for a good essay if anything.
