I think I should because there is a section to put “preferred” name. Should I call the school or collegeboard or someone to make sure they know Alex is the same as Alexander?</p>

<p>if you read the instructions carefully, you should know that you should always put your full legal name on ALL documents so that colleges won’t get confused over different names.
That’s why there’s a blank for a “preferred” name --even though I myself go by a different name, I always put down my legal name for collegeboard, college apps etc. Yes, you need to call.</p>
