Put these colleges in order: best to worst!

Of course I don’t mean that if you put it last its a “bad college” im just interested in knowing how people view these colleges in order of “best” to “worst”

georgetown
emory
tufts
boston university
boston college
nyu
cornell
tulane
uchicago

this is what I think:

uchicago
georgetown
cornell
emory
tufts
boston college
nyu
tulane
boston university

If I were accepted to all of the aforementioned schools, i would most likely go to NYU (stern) or Chicago.

After that, IMO they go

Georgetown
Cornell
Boston College
Boston University / Tulane

I don’t know much about emory or tufts

For what fields? As institutions, you got it down…with one exception. Cornell is about as good as Chicago and both are way better than any other school on the list.

1 Chicago or Cornell

Big drop

3 Georgetown or Emory

5 Tufts, BC and NYU

8 BU and Tulane

Would a student applying for a business job from NYU-Stern be less successful then one graduating with a degree in Economics from Chicago?

These two schools are my current top college choices, but I live on the East Coast, and recently have been having second thoughts about moving away.

Thanks

In the economics community, there is probably no school better than University of Chicago. Not only that but U of C is one of the best schools in the US period. I know that doesnt answer your question but I just thought I’d throw that out there. Honestly, if you already live close to NYU, I can see no justifiable reason (except perhaps for “seeing” the world or getting away from home or because you want to go to U of C) to go away for school if you plan on staying on the east coast. You are lucky to have good schools that are close by. From what I understand, NYU is looked at very highly on east coast also so you should do fine by attending school there.

Good luck!

Hard to say really. Both Stern and Chicago are awesome. I would go with your gut. Chicago is obviously more reputable as an educational institution, but Stern has incredible ties to Wall Street.

Also think about what you wish to do later on. Do you want to get an MBA or a Law degree? If so, majoring in Economics may be viewed as a better option by graduate school adcoms.

yeah c’mon its like you are comparing plums and peaches. They both are great tasting. NYU Stern and University of Chicago do not have any difference that is worht you researching becaue both will have equal jobs and I won’t be surprised if a person graduated from NYU his co-workers were U Chicago grads and vice versa. So you can’t compare.

For that sake just compare Harvard and Yale it is almost stupidity because both those schools are at the same level and are looked upon in the same manner. That is just the case with NYU and University of Chicago perhaps in different areas of the country but nontheless looked upon very similarly.

Thanks for your help, Shyboy, Alexandre, and Dunkaroo - I still have a year to really decide, and even then…I can only hope to be accepted into either institution

Here’s my 2 cents. Just a reminder though, fit seems to be more important than reputation when picking schools to apply to–especially if they are close together reputation wise. That being said, this is how I would rank them:

UChicago
Cornell
Georgetown
Emory
Tufts
Boston College
NYU
Tulane
Boston University

this is really subjective, but here goes:
georgetown
Cornell
UChicago
NYU
Tufts
Emory
Boston College
Boston University
tulane

Georgetown
UCHICAGO
Cornell
Emory
Tufts
NYU
BC
BU
Tulane

uchicago
georgetown
cornell
emory
nyu
tufts
boston university
boston college
tulane

kiddly are lists are pretty similar, we just have a couple in reverse order

cornell
uchicago
georgetown
emory
tufts
boston college
nyu
tulane
boston university

cornell
chicago
georgetown
emory
tufts
NYU
BC
Tulane
BU

bc is over-rated.

If you are from New York, the best deal in an undergraduate business major is Cornell Universities Applied Economics major in the Agriculture and Life Sciences College. The land grant college is cheaper, but the degree is on the Cornell sheepskin. If you like to ride an elevated train or subway, Cornell would not be a great choice. It is fairly rural and five hours from NYC by car. Did you consider Wharton?

Based on undergrad quality/ experience.

cornell
uchicago
georgetown
emory

tufts
boston college
nyu

boston university
tulane
