I enjoyed this “Personal Perspective on Obamas Pell Grant Infusion” in “The Choice” in today’s *New York Times *. ) See [A Personal Perspective on Obamas Pell Grant Infusion - The Choice Blog - NYTimes.com](A Personal Perspective on Obama's Pell Grant Infusion - The New York Times))

It’s about former Rhode Island six-term senator Claiborne D. Pell, a Democrat who died last year at age 90 and was the impetus behind the grant that bears his name.

According to his grandson, quoted in “The Choice,” the late senator would approve of President Obama’s proposed automatic increases to the grant but would regret that it still barely make a dent in most current college costs.
