Megan: Maybe you can re-direct your friend to consider WHAT she is seeking out of college. To me, choosing Yale out of the blue without any consideration to realistic admissions standards is just grabbing after a name or a reputation. At this stage, that’s OK but if it doesn’t lead to more practical things as well as buckling down and really seeking to excel academically, she’ll be in for grave disappointment.

If she maintains around a C average, she’ll have serious problems entering and performing well at most 4 year colleges.

Maybe direct her to a trusted teacher or counselor who can give her objective guidance? Best of luck to you and her.
