Just as the title states, I am looking for good quality luggage but for a lower price.

Do you guys have any brand or store recommendations? I’d like the luggage to last.

Thanks!

kohls often has sales on good luggage (sometimes even 50% off).

Tumi outlets, especially around holidays when they have additional sales. As proven by my H’s travel to many XYZStans, Tumi luggage is indestructible. I got this bag for $150 at the local outlet (however, mine is bright green which I view as a plus):

We have purchased good luggage from Ross and Macy’s. Macy’s was Delsey’s Helium (top-rated by consumer reports). We also have purchased many pieces at Ross. We like Skyway and American Tourister. Macy’s says it gets rid of its old luggage at Ross, so selections are similar. Costco has reasonably-priced luggage and many are good quality. Lots depends on what you’re looking for.

We like luggage that is not the same black as everyone else’s. MUCH easier to pick out at the luggage carousel.

“Don’t buy expensive luggage. You only use it when you’re traveling.” – Yogi Berra

I try not to buy anything I’d be heartbroken over, but do like it to withstand the rigors of travel. Used to have a $20-30 limit on what I’d spend for a piece of luggage. Recently upped it to $50. Most of my pieces have lasted literally dozens of trips over many, many years. I do prefer quality inexpensive luggage.

Is Eagle Creek within your budget? Sierratradingpost has good deals. Costco is a good source as well.

If you are looking for good quality, I agree with Macy’s. If you have a discount coupon AND the item is on sale, you can get something good. We compared prices with Kohls and they were the same…but the inventories varied. Our criteria for luggage was VERY light weight because that’s what our daughter needed. BUT each piece was $125.

I would suggest you go to your nearest TJMaxx or Marshalls stores. They have nice qualify luggage and my guess is you will find something at a reasonable price there. Look FIRST at the sale stuff…you never know what you will find. We got DD an American Airlines 24 inch bag for about $60…the retail price was over $200.

I would do a little internet searching and get a sense of how much different styles within brands cost - then I would hit Marshall’s, TJMaxx, etc., to see if you can find those items heavily discounted.

If you can’t find anything that way - or you want an entire set, I would suggest Atlantic luggage. We bought some pieces several years ago for our daughter and they have held up very, very well. And trust me, it is not because of how they were handled!
