<p>I am trying to decide what to put down under my “academic honors” in the common app. A couple years ago, I participated in the NFC and afterwards received a silver-colored medal that says “Laureat” on the back as well as a “certificate d’honneur.” Now I am under the impression that to receive a medal, you must place nationally, while you just need to get in the top 20% for the certificate. As such, I’m unsure about how I did; my teacher hasn’t gotten back to me about this. Can anyone confirm my first assumption, that only people who place get a medal? Thanks.</p>
<p>It is a National Honor. Not everyone who participate received a medal, only the one who placed.</p>
